Lake effect snow warning affecting Onondaga County from Thursday to Saturday

 

The National Weather Service issued a lake effect snow warning at 1:42 p.m. on Wednesday valid from Thursday 4 p.m. until Saturday 1 a.m. for Onondaga County.

The weather service says, “Heavy lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 5 and 10 inches with localized amounts of over a foot possible in northern Onondaga County. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.”

“Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches,” comments the weather service. “If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
