But rapper was released in time to play gig same evening
Kanye West was hospitalised in Australia yesterday afternoon (September 10), according to reports.
Woman's Day claimed that the rapper was admitted to a Melbourne hospital yesterday, with reports claiming that he was stretchered in to the facility and was given an MRI scan.
Sources say that West was suffering from a migraine. He was released from the hospital the same evening in time to play his show at the Rod Laver Arena.
According to Lorraine Terry, who was accompanying her daughter for an MRI scan, patients were asked to move out of waiting rooms so West could be treated in private. "My daughter was having an MRI. Shortly after it began, security burst in and cleared the area," she said.
"Everyone was moved out of the waiting and consulting rooms. We were the only ones left apart from doctors and nurses - we couldn't leave as the MRI wasn’t finished."
She added: "Next thing we knew, Kanye was stretchered in surrounded by security. He had one side of his face covered with something white. We both knew it was him because we had seen his photo in the paper everyday and we were shocked because it looked so serious."
Earlier this year West revealed details of the follow-up to his 2013 album 'Yeezus', saying he already has most of the first single finished. He explained that he's recorded a new song similar to his 2012 Jay Z collaboration 'Niggas In Paris' that could be played in a club, saying it's "so good the album has to be balanced against it".
West added that he originally wanted to release the album in June, but now hopes to see it come out by the end of the year at the latest.
