It may be the third week of September, but the Summer of Butts swelters on. Last month, Jennifer Lopez released a remix of her song “Booty,” featuring Iggy Azalea—and now they’ve put out an ass-tastic video to accompany the audio.
The video isn’t as colorful or absurd as Nicki Minaj’s recent ass masterpiece. In fact, Iggy leaves Nicki out of the derrière dialogue completely, claiming “the last time the world seen a booty this good it was on Jenny from the Block.”
Elegant and seductive: that’s the “Booty” video in a nutshell. The video is crisply shot in shades of gray and black, and when Iggy and J-Lo smack each other’s asses—we promise there’s plenty of that—you can really see every oil droplet fly and every inch of flesh ripple.
The “Booty” video is as seductively highbrow as Nicki’s “Anaconda” was cartoonish. Towards the end of the clip, J-Lo sports red sunglasses and a cigarette hangs from her mouth. It’s hard not to see this as a mid-career statement from the pop star that, yes, she is still a sex symbol—and that yes, she can hang with the new kids on the block.
