HBO hammers the final nails in the coffin as the fates of Sookie, Bill and Eric are revealed
The final season of True Blood ended Sunday with a three-year time jump, bringing many of its characters to a Thanksgiving hosted by a pregnant Sookie (Anna Paquin) and a husband viewers never see.
The seventh season of the Alan Ball-created HBO drama killed off major characters Tara (Rutina Wesley) and Alcide (Joe Manganiello) and saw Sam (Sam Trammell) pack his bags and leave Bon Temps with Nicole (Jurnee Smollett-Bell). Here's where the
rest of the series' characters ended up.
Bill and Sookie
Bill contracts a rapidly progressing case of Hep-V. He refuses the cure, which is in Sarah Newlin's (Anna Camp) blood, and his readiness to die is incomprehensible and infuriating to Sookie.
He explained it to Eric in the previous episode: Vampires are drawn to Sookie's fairy light, but a relationship between her and any of them would destroy her chance for a normal life.
He visits Sookie in the finale and asks of her the fairies' "ultimate kindness" — that she use up her light on killing him. Then at Jessica and Hoyt's wedding, Sookie hears his thoughts for the first time: "I love you, Sookie Stackhouse. I love you with everything I'm made of."
She meets him in the cemetery at the graves of the Comptons, and they share a final kiss. But Sookie decides she doesn't want to give up her fairy light — instead, she and Bill climb into the coffin, where she stakes him through the heart.
Jessica
Hoyt (Jim Parrack) returns to Bon Temps and is reunited with Jessica, with whom he immediately falls back in love.
The two of them go to see Bill, whom Jessica previously had release her when he resigned himself to die. He asks whether they might get married, explaining to Jessica that he hadn't been able to see his human daughter's wedding. They decide to have an unofficial "wedding" the next day, with Jason as Hoyt's best man and Andy (Chris Bauer) conducting the ceremony.
Eric and Pam
Eric's Hep-V was cured when he and Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten) found Sarah, with the yakuza close in pursuit. In characteristic form, they escape with Sarah while slaying the gangsters.
The funniest flash-forward in True Blood history follows. Eric and Pam have become hugely successful selling New Blood, a synthesis from Sarah Newlin's blood packaged in cans that look like energy drinks. They still run Fangtasia — with Sarah chained in the basement for high-paying vampires to feed on.
Jason
It takes Hoyt's ex-girlfriend Bridget (Ashley Hinshaw) to make an honest man out of Jason. The two sleep together — as in sleeping, not having sex — in the previous episode. The time jump finds them with several young children.
Jason and Hoyt have their reunion too. Jason knots his old best friend's tie for the wedding, telling him, "Let's do this shit, Bubba."
