And to add its dreamy appeal, that dapper dance partner was American hunk Derek Hough who pulled some seriously slick moves at HBO's Emmy Awards after-party before showing the actress the time of her life.
Looking every inch the Grecian goddess, Sofia did more than let her hair down after the prestigious evening event as she was flung around the bright green dance floor for quite some performance.
It may have been an evening of glamour and award winning but all eyes were on the Columbian actress, come the after party.
Still dressed in her floor-skimming ivory gown, the Modern Family star ruffled her hair in anticipation of a chance boogy with Derek.
He, meanwhile, looked debonair in a navy blue suit with satin lapels and a bow tie, slicking his dark blonde hair back for the evening.
Taking centre stage on the green dance floor in front of HBO's star-studded guests, Derek showed Sofia some new moves as he picked her up and proceeded to spin her around.
With one arm supporting her lower back and one tucked under her bent knees, the dancer sent Sofia into a spin as she tried not to overexpose herself in the cleavage-heavy dress.
Sofia tilted her head back in a fit of giggles as the whole room grabbed their camera phones to snap the special moment.
The after party struck quite a contrast to her poised red carpet entrance earlier in the night.
The 42-year-old actress attended the Emmys alone and joked on the red carpet that she had left her new man Joe Manganiello at home because she didn't want the hunk to upstage her.
