Katy Perry recently said she “doesn’t need a dude” in her life right now but we’re betting she was blushing like crazy last night as Barack Obama, yes the President, publicly declared his love for the pop babe during a White House dinner.
The ‘Dark Horse’ singer was among guests, including Stevie Wonder, Andy Roddick and Brooklyn Decker, who dined at the presidential palace on Thursday evening to celebrate the 46th anniversary of the Special Olympics and it seems the POTUS was especially pleased to have her in the audience.
Inviting Katy to the stage where she performed her hit single ‘Roar,’ Obama told his guests: “We have just one of my favorite people performing tonight -- Katy Perry. We are so grateful to her.”
He added sweetly: “I love Katy Perry. She is just a wonderful person.
“I've just met her mom and now I know why she is such a wonderful person, but I just want everybody to know she is on tour right now and so, for her to take time out to do this, is really special and we really want to say thank you to her for doing this.”
And we thought Beyonce was Big O’s favourite?!
Following her glamorous evening rubbing shoulders with Washington’s ‘Elite,’ Katy tweeted: “What an incredibly beautiful evening being invited to sing at the White House for Potus, Flotus & many special Olympic attendees tonight to celebrate these incredibly inspiring men & women. I see them beyond their obstacles. I hope you can join me.”
She later added in reference to the premiere of the music video for her brand new single ‘This Is How We Do,’ Katy later added: “Between singing at the White House & releasing one of my favorite videos, today was a good one. #ThisIsHowWeDo.”
Katy, 29, has made no secret in the past that Obama gets her vote, having campaigned for his 2012 presidential election bid which included performing in a ballot-style dress with his box ticked.
The pop star is currently in the midst of her ‘Prismatic’ world tour which is now making its way around North America and is in support of her latest studio album ‘Prism.’
