The countdown to another release from Swift in advance of her new album is on, but in the meantime, Swift performed a cover of Vance Joy’s “Riptide” for BBC Radio 1.
The cover opens with little orchestration, just Swift accompanying herself on the piano. Swift slows the song down for her purposes, turning it to a ballad. Her interpretation very much puts the song in conversation with her own catalogue.
As for what’s to come from Swift, she posted an image to Instagram featuring the word “woods” with the caption “5 days #1989.” She later explained on Twitter that “what is coming in the next few days is a new song that I think best represents #1989. It is NOT my next single.”
