Mel B‘s divorce from husband Stephen Belafonte has become a whole lot messier as his brother has done a tell-all interview about their marriage.
The famed Spice Girl turned TV reality show judge filed for divorce last week, and now Belafonte’s brother Jeremiah Stansbury has told England’s The Sun newspaper how their troubled marriage went downhill.
As Radar has exclusively reported, Belafonte, 41, was seen brazenly cozying up to a mystery girl before Mel, 41, slapped him with divorce papers.
But that’s not all. Stansbury, 43, claimed to The Sun Mel’s union with Belafonte went sour when he allegedly punched her dog, flirted with the couple’s nanny, and kept a gun in their home.
Stansbury contended that in July 2008, Belafonte attacked Mel’s Labrador dog: “I saw him punch [the dog named] Lord in the ribs full force with all of his strength.
“The dog collapsed and had no breath and was crying. He was standing there laughing. It made me feel ill….and Mel was not there to intervene.
“Steve loves to hurt animals. When we were teenagers — he was about 13 — he killed a duck in the street.. He took a brick and smashed it over the head,” Stansbury claimed.
According to Stansbury, he worked as a chauffeur for the pair and lived with them in the Laurel Canyon area of Los Angeles for more than a year.
Stansbury claimed Belafonte once flirted with the Filipino nanny. Mel has a daughter Madison, 5, with Belafonte plus two other daughters.
Recalling Belafonte’s alleged inappropriate chatting with the nanny, Stansbury said, “There was one time in 2008 that I saw them sitting in the hot tub in the house together — she was in a purple bikini with a thong and he was wearing swimming shorts. It made me feel uncomfortable.”
According to Stansbury, Belafonte boasted about his prowess with women and as Radar readers know, his apparent roving eye ways have had Mel gearing up for divorce for some time.
Stansbury claimed his brother once drove Mel’s Bentley to an L.A. nightclub to pick up women.
“Steve and Mel had been arguing and he told her, ‘I’m going out to get my d*** sucked.’ This was his way of making her feel small,” Stansbury alleged in The Sun.
The brother contended that he later dropped off Belafonte and a young woman at a private apartment he kept away from Mel’s house and they went inside alone together.
“Later I dropped the girl off and he went back home and got into bed with Melanie,” Stansbury said.
Also, Belafonte’s brother told The Sun Mel was nervous about Belafonte keeping a gun in their home.
The singer filed for divorce from her husband of nearly ten years last week. The two wed in 2007.
It’s not the first time a relative has come forward to dish about Mel and Belafonte. As Radar has reported, her brother-in-law was once accused of selling stories to the press.
