hen the luncheon invite says “Power of Women,” be sure to expect a headlining kind of crowd. And at the sixth annual Variety-hosted event, held yesterday (Friday, Oct. 10) at the Beverly Wilshire Four Seasons hotel, the guest list didn’t disappoint. Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Lopez, Viola Davis and Jane Fonda were all honorees for their humanitarian efforts, particularly work done through their charitable causes.
But one more kicker to cap off the impressive contributions: the A-list fashion of course. J.Lo and Witherspoon particularly amped up their looks in, aptly, power red. Lopez’s number by Valentino was demure on top (sleeves and a collared neckline) but was racy everywhere else including the super short hemline and red hot animal print. Witherspoon, meanwhile, wore a lace brocade Dolce & Gabbana nipped waist frock that would have been sweet had it not been in the fiery hue.
And among the guests, it seemed like there was a color consensus all-around. Maria Bello wore a vibrant tomato red jumpsuit by Trina Turk because, “this is my mother’s favorite color,” she told us. “It just makes me happy.” There were also other shades of the color family, including autumn-appropriate merlot (Eva Longoria) and pinot noir (Chrissy Teigen) hues. (Both women were in sleek Cushnie et Ochs.)
But Teigen didn’t take all the credit for her sexy look. She tells us: “I have a wonderful stylist. Stylists are everything in this world. Trust me.”
