Simon Cowell 'so sad' to Hear G.R.L. Member Simone Battle Has Died at Age 25
According to People.com, girl band G.R.L. member Simone Battle was found dead on Friday in Los Angeles. The cause of death is as of yet unknown, though TMZ says that suicide was suspected.
On Twitter, Simon Cowell wrote 'I am so sad to hear about the news Simone Battle has passed away. She was such a fun nice person. It's such a loss. Rest in peace Simone.'
Fellow former X-Factor judge Paula Abdul added 'My heart & prayers go out 2 @GRLSimone's family, band mates, & loved ones. Such a beautiful sweet promising star. May she rest in peace. xoP'
Reign Deer Entertainment, Robin Antin, Kmosabe Records, and RCA records released an official statement regarding the 25-year-old's death saying, "We are deeply saddened by the tragic news of the loss of Simone Battle of G.R.L. Simone was an exceptional young talent and human being, and we are all devastated to learn of her passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and loved ones at this time." The other members of the group have not released any statements yet.
Battle's first bit of fame came from becoming one of the top 17 on the US version of X-Factor in 2011. Following that success, she joined the girls only singing group, G.R.L. in 2012, which was formed by Pussycat Dolls founder Robin Antin. The group received acclaim from singing the chorus in "Wild Wild Love" by Pitbull.
Of joining the group rather than continuing to go solo, Battle previously told People Magazine, "We'd all been pursuing careers in the industry on our own, but once we found each other, we realized we wanted to do it together. It felt so right. The chemistry was perfect,"
