Miley Cyrus under fire for twerking on Mexican flag in concert, may be fined or get jail time

The Mexican state legislature asked that the country’s federal government penalize Cyrus for her actions Tuesday while onstage at the Monterrey Arena.

The 21-year-old wild child could face a fine or a brief jail sentence after one of her dancers rubbed a Mexican flag on her backside during her performance in Monterrey in the northern state of Nuevo Leon Tuesday.

Mexican state legislature has requested that the country's federal government penalize the songstress.

"She or her team could be fined up to the equivalent of around $1,200 or be detained for 36 hours," local lawmaker Francisco Trevino said.

In a video captured of Cyrus’ on stage display, the "Adore You" singer can be seen donning a prosthetic butt while twerking on the nation's symbol.

If charged, Cyrus wouldn't be the frist singer to face the music for something like this.

In 2008, singer Paulina Rubio was fined for posing without clothes but wrapped in the country's flag.
