George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin sport rings morning after wedding

Mr. and Mrs. Clooney were all smiles as they boarded a water taxi in front of the opulent Aman hotel in Venice.

George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin stepped out for the first time as husband and wife Sunday — and will cap their lavish weekend wedding with an official civil ceremony Monday.

The radiant couple sported wedding bands glimmering in the Venetian sun as they emerged from the luxurious Aman hotel, where they spent their first night in wedded bliss.

Clooney, 53, sported a spiffy light gray suit, blue tie and shades. Alamuddin, 36, wowed onlookers with a classy long-sleeved Giambattista Valli white dress with pastel flowers.

Both smiled ear to ear as they hopped into a waiting water taxi fittingly named Amore.

Clooney wrapped his arm around his wife as the stylish wooden boat cruised down the Grand Canal toward another waterfront hotel for an afternoon brunch with wedding guests, followed by a late dinner.

Gondoliers steered clear and tourists cheered as the glamorous new couple passed.

Numerous celebrities — including Bill Murray, Matt Damon, Ellen Barkin, Anna Wintour, John Krasinski, Emily Blunt, Bono and Clooney’s cousin Miguel Ferrer — were spotted taking water taxis to the nuptials. And Clooney himself mugged for tourist cameras as he made his way to the Big Event.

Despite the public boat rides, Clooney went to great lengths to keep the ceremony itself private, asking guests not to bring cell phones.

Nonetheless, a few details began to trickle out about the storybook celebration.

Us Weekly reported the Oscar-winning actor and human-rights lawyer held hands under an arch of imported white roses as they exchanged vows they wrote themselves.

Guests dined on a five-course meal including lobster, risotto, sea bass and beef served on 24-karat gold china, as well as canapés of prosciutto and figs. String musicians provided the background lilt, according to the magazine.

During the toast, messages were read from Sandra Bullock and Dan Aykroyd, Us reported.

Alamuddin’s father, Ramzi Alamuddin, was already pushing to become a grandfather, reportedly telling the newlyweds, “Now it’s time for grandchildren!”

The wedding space at the hotel was decked out with candles, white roses and a dozen or so works of art by Alamuddin, according to Us.

Performances by a jazz trio and pianist were a hit with Murray, who reportedly gave a thumbs-up when the tunes began.

The party went on well into the morning.

Mr. and Mrs. Clooney — well, not really, as Alamuddin is expected to retain her surname — will have a civil marriage ceremony on a walkway along the Grand Canal near the 16th-century Cavalli Palace.

The marriage vows put to an end another famous vow made by Clooney, who swore he would never marry again after divorcing actress Talia Balsam in 1993.

Alamuddin was born in Lebanon and raised in the United Kingdom. Clooney met her through his activism.

The glitz and glamour of the wedding have been surprisingly public, considering that Clooney has often been an outspoken critic of the paparazzi.

The groom was at ease around the photographers. On the morning of his wedding, he casually enjoyed a breakfast with Cindy Crawford and her husband and joked with the omnipresent shutterbugs.
